Microsoft has recently released a dark mode for Office insiders running the productivity suite on Apple’s macOS Mojave.
This early version is available right now for Office insiders in the Fast ring and would only be released to Office 365 subscribers. Office 2019 doesn’t come with a dark theme, and there’s is a good chance Microsoft keeps this feature exclusive to Office 365 in an attempt to steer more customers to its subscription-based service.
Akshay Bakshi, Product Manager at Microsoft and working on Office for iOS and macOS, revealed the new version on Twitter, explaining that the latest update brings the dark theme to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint when running the suite on macOS Mojave.
Furthermore, this new release for insiders also includes a new ribbon design with refreshed icon styling in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote.
